Tackling health inequalities

HealthIntend Community Interest Company (CIC) exists to tackle health inequalities across Suffolk. It raises money to help reduce health inequalities in the area. It does this by running a society lottery and working collaboratively with independent charity, People's Health Trust to develop local interventions.

We donate the good causes funds we raise to People's Health Trust, who invests these in communities wishing to make their neighbourhoods even better places to grow, live, work and age.

This grant making trust funds local people who have great ideas about how they can make their neighbourhoods even better places to grow, live, work and age.

Working with HealthIntend, People's Health Trust has made grants to local groups totalling £1,437,381.

 Suffolk Chinese Family Welfare Association

Suffolk Chinese Family Welfare Assocation were awarded £23,716 to deliver additional support sessions and English language sessions for members of the Chinese migrant community living in central Ipswich.  The group will create two new activity sessions, a weekly English Language class for people of all ages and abilities and a monthly outreach activity session for isolated older people in the Chinese community. It will also add additional hours to existing support and activity sessions that it currently runs. The group hope to build the skills and confidence of this community of interest in a relaxed and sociable environment.
